Danú, one of the most rollicking high-spirited Irish bands comes to town on December 2 and the Forum@MC turns its attention lightly to beer. Benny McCarthy of Danú will bring tales of Irish pub life to the stage where he will be joined by Dr. Charles Bamforth, UC Davis Anheuser-Busch endowed Professor of Malting and Brewing Sciences. Dr. Bamforth is the author of Grape vs. Grain: A Historical, Technological, and Social Comparison of Wine and Beer, which was published to great acclaim in 2008. The discussion, moderated by Jeffrey Callison, host of Insight on KXJZ, will address the question "Is Beer Good For You?" A question selected, no doubt, to allow these two experts to roam informatively, anecdotally, and even jovially around a golden topic.
