At home in Austria, the esteemed 110-member ensemble functions both as an opera and concert orchestra. Conducted by Dennis Russell Davies, the Bruckner Orchestra comes to Mondavi Center with a program featuring Erich Korngold's violin concerto and Anton Bruckner's mystically powerful Symphony No. 8.
The orchestra also appears at Mondavi Center the previous evening, November 18, performing Balduin Fulzer, Symphony no. 5 (US premiere); Elliott Carter, Dialogues for Piano and Orchestra 15 (West Coast premiere); and Philip Glass, Symphony no. 8 (West Coast premiere).
