An unusually fine group—musically, technically, in just about any way one wants to view it.

—The New York Times

Program:
Beethoven: String Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 127

The acclaimed Alexander String Quartet brings its complete cycle of Beethoven’s string quartets to a close with four shows in the 2010–2011 season. On the cusp of its 30th anniversary, the Quartet has played in the major music capitals of four continents, securing its place among the world’s premier ensembles. Widely admired for its interpretations of Beethoven, Mozart, and Shostakovich, the Quartet has also established itself as an important advocate of new music through more than 25 commissions and numerous premiere performances.

Renowned musicologist, author, and composer Robert Greenberg provides commentary throughout the concert.
