Marquis Hill a "September Standout" in The New York Times
By Rob Tocalino
As part of its new "This Month in Live Jazz" column, The New York Times featured trumpeter Marquis Hill as one of its "September Standouts" for the best live jazz happening in New York. Giovanni Russonello wrote:
Mr. Hill tossed together the wispy funk of Herbie Hancock’s 1970s bands; the smoldering whisper of Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah’s trumpet; a passion for outré and underground hip-hop; and influences from Brazil and the Caribbean.
Hill will be featuring songs from his forthcoming album, Modern Flows Vol. II during a four-night engagement with his band the Blacktet in the Vanderhoef Studio Theatre, October 10-13.
