Jacam Manricks has presented his band hundreds of times at internationally renowned concert venues. He has recorded six albums as a leader, the latest (for 2019 release) with these sidemen. Also, a highly respected soloist/sideman, Manricks has performed with the likes of Jeff Tain Watts, the Village Vanguard Orchestra, Tyshawn Sorey and Ray Charles.
The Jacam Manricks Trio meshes improvisation with orchestrated sections and incorporates elements of classical and folk music. Along with dynamically explosive solos, this creates a historically grounded, yet exciting modern sophisticated style of post-contemporary jazz. All About Jazz characterizes Manricks’ music as “raw, sinewy and soulful modern jazz with brains” and Jazz Times compliments Jacam’s band as a “ first-class talent [that] forge[s] a potent swinging chemistry.”
