Founded in 1973, The English Concert immediately earned a place among the world’s preeminent early music ensembles. Through countless best-selling recordings and tours to every major music center, it has maintained that reputation for more than 30 years. Distinguished violinist Andrew Manze, who appeared with the Academy of Ancient Music in Mondavi Center’s inaugural season, took over as music director in 2003.
