Symphony no. 9 in E minor, op. 95 (“From the New World”)

From its 1896 debut concert under the baton of Antonín Dvorák right up to the present, the Czech Philharmonic has epitomized the “Czech sound,” with deep, mellifluous strings and colorful wind playing. Consistently cited by critics as among the very best orchestras in Europe, the Czech Philharmonic simply can’t be beat when playing the music of its countrymen, and the Mondavi Center concert will feature an all-Dvorák program including the much-loved “New World” symphony.
