Green Eggs and Ham
Lara Downes Family Concert
Sunday, December 11, 2011 - 10:00am
Sunday, December 11, 2011 - 3:00pm
Pianist Lara Downes is joined by winners of the Mondavi Center Young Artists Competition and members of the Davis High School Chamber Orchestra in a performance of Rob Kapilow's Green Eggs and Ham, a merry, whiz-bang romp through the Dr. Seuss classic. Called "the most popular family music since Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf " by the Boston Globe, Kapilow's delightful ensemble piece combines the zany absurdity of Seuss's text with a sparkling musical score that runs the gamut from swinging jazz to classical lyricism, from pop silliness to spiky modernism. Directed by renowned Broadway choreographer Mindy Cooper, the show features young actors trained through the Mondavi Center Theater Workshop program.
