Enjoy story time 30 minutes prior to each performance

Enjoy story time 30 minutes prior to each performance with author Loriene Honda, Ph.D.

Honda will read from her book The Cat Who Chose to Dream, which shares the story of a cat’s choice to be incarcerated at a World War II prison camp as a gesture of loving support to the Japanese American family to whom he belongs.

Who knew literacy training could be such rambunctious fun! Celebrating the words and ideas of local young authors, Story Pirates presents an hour-long sketch-comedy musical based entirely on stories written by students. Based in New York City and Los Angeles, the Story Pirates take the show on the high seas (ok, they actually take I-5 and/or an airplane) to bring this spectacle to the Mondavi Center for the first time, with the audience and actors onstage at the same time!

SUBMIT YOUR STORY!
When the Story Pirates visit the Mondavi Center, they will adapt and perform a few stories written by kids in the audience at the shows! We're now accepting submissions of stories written by kids for those shows. Details on how to submit a story are available at mondaviarts.org/storypirates.

The deadline is October 1. We can’t wait to read your amazing story!
