Former U.S. poet laureate Billy Collins and singer-songwriter Aimee Mann met in 2011 at a Poetry Night event at the White House. From that initial encounter grew an idea to take their respective shows on the road, a wise decision that resulted in this unique onstage pairing. What to expect? Collins will read some of his poems, which are full of wit and thoughtfulness; Mann will sing some songs from her quirky, tuneful catalogue (accompanied by Paul Bryan). The two will discuss each other's work, offer insights into the differences and similarities between writing poetry and lyrics and their creative processes. In all, a volley of poetry, music and commentary on both that will leave audiences enchanted.
