Yo-Yo Ma, cello Kathryn Stott, piano

Wednesday, May 11, 2016 - 8:00pm

Since his last appearance in the Mondavi Center’s 10th Anniversary Season, Yo-Yo Ma has accomplished much. He embarked on the Goat Rodeo Sessions tour with the “genre-hopping quartet” (Cincinnati Enquirer) of Ma (cello), Chris Thile (mandolin), Edgar Meyer (double-bass) and Stuart Duncan (fiddle) and won a Best Folk Album Grammy for the collaboration. In 2014, Ma took his award-winning Silk Road Ensemble to Oman, and was named the inaugural recipient of the Fred Rogers Legacy Award recognizing his contributions toward helping children develop their unique talents and human potential. Of his longtime friend, the late Fred Rogers said “The only thing larger than his talent is his heart.” The Washington Post heralds accompanist Kathryn Stott as “every bit Ma’s equal, playing ... with striking individuality.”
