Perhaps the world’s most beloved nomadic orchestra, the renowned Academy of St. Martin
in the Fields has been committed to international touring since its inception in 1959 by
Sir Neville Marriner in its namesake church in the heart of London. Under the musical
leadership of American violin virtuoso Joshua Bell, the Academy’s “sound is as clear and
true as it was 30 years ago” (The Independent) with Bell’s “uncommon sweetness of tone well
matched by the orchestra” (The Washington Post). Bell returns to Jackson Hall after his 2014
debut as the Academy’s newly-minted music director and earlier appearances as soloist
with the Academy, and with pianists Jeremy Denk and Sam Haywood.
