Post-Performance Q & A Session |
After the success of their Los Tangeros tour, Pablo Ziegler and Christopher
O’Riley come together again for Two to Tango, an adventurous program
featuring virtuosic two-piano arrangements of compositions of their
own and by Astor Piazzolla. Buenos Aires-born, Latin Grammy-winning
pianist, composer and arranger Ziegler is one of the most important
figures in Argentine nuevo tango, the vibrant musical hybrid of classic
tango and American jazz. O’Riley, the host of NPR’s classical music program
From the Top (which will host a taping at the Mondavi Center on March
18), has stretched the piano beyond conventional boundaries with
groundbreaking transcriptions of Radiohead, Elliott Smith and Nick Drake,
and his sublime interpretations of the classical canon.
