Pinchas Zukerman, conductor and violin
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Saturday, January 23, 2016 - 8:00pm
In his seventh season as Principal Guest Conductor, iconic violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman leads the London-based Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a program infused with imagery and lyricism. Maestro Zukerman, the “forever-young virtuoso” (Los Angeles Times), showcases his signature magnetism as soloist in Mozart’s fifth (and final) violin concerto, known as the “Turkish” concerto due to its exotic finale. Elgar's charming Serenade for Strings and Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 (deemed “an inexhaustible fountain of deep pleasure” by Austrian critic Eduard Hanslick, a Brahms contemporary) round out this richly layered program.
Elgar Serenade for Strings
