Stuffed and Starved: The Hidden Battle for the World Food System

Raj Patel is an award-winning writer, activist and academic. His first book Stuffed and Starved: The Hidden Battle for the World Food System, is the featured read in this year’s Campus Community Book Project. In the book, and in this talk, Patel explains the steps to regain control of the global food economy, stop the exploitation of farmers and consumers and rebalance global sustenance. Patel has degrees from the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics and Cornell University, has worked for the World Bank and WTO, and protested against them around the world. He is currently a fellow at The Institute for Food and Development Policy, also known as Food First, and has testified about the causes of the global food crisis to the U.S. House Financial Services Committee.
