Those who attend our annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration will consider themselves lucky indeed with a double-bill of acclaimed accordionist Sharon Shannon and Socks in the Frying Pan, a young traditional trio from Country Clare.
Shannon has received many awards including being the youngest ever recipient of the Meteor Lifetime Achievement Awards in 2009. She has collaborated, recorded and toured with everyone from the Waterboys, Willie Nelson, Bono, Shane McGowan and John Prine to Nigel Kennedy and the RTE Concert Orchestra and had many hit records including “The Galway Girl” with Steve Earle.
Socks in the Frying Pan features Aodán Coyne on guitar and vocals and the accomplished Hayes brothers, Shane Hayes on accordion and Fiachra Hayes on fiddle & banjo. This youthful trio blends Irish traditional melodies with their own personal flair which has gained them critical acclaim and accolades including ‘New Band of the Year’ by the Irish Music Association.
