Davis Dance Revolution

Davis Dance Revolution (DDR) is an annual dance competition on Picnic Day that features traditional and modern student dance groups at UC Davis. Each year, talented groups compete for prizes in the biggest dance event on campus.

Video Game Orchestra

The Video Game Orchestra at UC Davis was founded in 2017 with the goal of allowing college musicians to explore the wonders of video game music. What started out as a small group of 9 musicians has now grown into a community of more than 100 members, including current UCD students, alumni, and community members. Additionally, all of our pieces are arranged by our own members. Each quarter, we select a theme for our concert that explores a genre of video games, allowing us to cover a diverse array of games throughout the year.

Lucía

Lucía blends jazz with the rich traditions of Latin folk to create a sound that is entirely her own.

Born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico, her musical journey began at the age of two, performing alongside her parents—Laura Rebolloso and Ramón Gutiérrez—as part of the renowned Son de Madera ensemble. Immersed in the rhythms of fandangos and son jarocho, Lucía developed a deep-rooted connection to her heritage that continues to shape her artistry today.

Coltrane 100

Coltrane 100 brings together saxophonists Joe Lovano and Melissa Aldana, pianist Nduduzo Makhathini, bassist Linda May Han Oh, and drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts for a collective tribute celebrating the centennial of John Coltrane’s birth and his enduring influence across generations, geographies, and musical traditions.

Unlimited Miles: Miles Davis at 100

Unlimited Miles: Miles Davis at 100 keeps one foot rooted in the rich legacy of Miles Davis while the other leaps boldly into the future.

Under the direction of award-winning pianist and composer John Beasley, this starry sextet — saxophonist Mark Turner, trumpeter Sean Jones, guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, bassist Ben Williams, and drummer Terreon Gully — delves into the visionary spirit and boundless creativity of Davis.

UC Davis Symphony Orchestra

The UC Davis Symphony Orchestra (UCDSO) is committed to presenting repertoire from different periods and styles at the highest artistic level. Members also pride themselves in performing works by students, faculty, and visiting composers.

Established in 1959, the orchestra has performed in many cities in Northern California, as well as in Australia, Canada, France, French Polynesia, and Spain. As of 2013, the UCDSO has grown to approximately 110 members and is a resident ensemble of Jackson Hall at the Mondavi Center.
