Mondavi Center Presents

Sons of Mystro

This event has passed

The brothers that make up Sons of Mystro were born and raised in South Florida to a Jamaican father (named Mystro!) and a Barbadian mother. Malcolm, 25, and his 22-year-old brother Umoja learned to play the violin through South Florida’s public school system and attended Dillard High School for the Performing Arts. They use their violins to interpret reggae classics, American pop songs and their own creations accompanied by a DJ & a drummer.

What If Guide

This is a Sensory-Friendly Performance

Sensory-friendly performances are designed to create a performing arts experience that is welcoming to families and people of all ages, including people with autism, sensory sensitivities, or other social, learning or cognitive disabilities.

What This Means:

  • While the content of the performance isn’t changed, the environment for the audience is more relaxed to allow accommodation for varying ways of interacting with visual and auditory stimuli.

  • The audience chamber features low ambient lighting throughout the performance to allow patrons to move around or exit the theater.

  • Patrons may talk and move around the theater as needed during the performance.

  • Standing areas are provided for patrons who prefer not to be seated.

  • Patrons are encouraged to bring what will make them feel comfortable, including earplugs/headphones, blankets, cushions, hand fidgets.

  • The use of mobile electronic devices is allowed.

  • Designated spaces are available for those who need a break from the performance.

  • Pre-visit Guides are provided in advance so patrons know what to expect from the performance. These guides include pictures with clear descriptions of the Mondavi Center experience.
